Honoring the Buddha Day

Honoring the Buddha Day, Buddha’s birthday, more commonly known as Vesak Day, is a major Buddhist festival that is celebrated by Buddhists all over the globe. This day is unique to the way many Western cultures celebrate birthdays in that it memorializes the birth, enlightenment (nirvana) and passing away (Parinirvana) of the Lord Gautama Buddha, all on one day. Vesak follows the lunar calendar and because of the diverse Buddhist cultures the world over, different traditions celebrate Vesak Day on different dates.
